Developing age-appropriate sensory, motor, perceptual, and language skills is central to our approach, facilitated through hands-on learning activities and carefully selected materials. To achieve this, we tailor our teaching to each child's abilities, ensuring that every student feels capable and successful. The learning process at Red Owl Academy mirrors the broader global community, fostering caring, respectful, and active members of society. Our curriculum is built on thematic integration, incorporating units, projects, group and individual work, and interactive learning activities to engage children as active learners. Through our STEAM program, students are encouraged to innovate independently and delve deeply into all subjects. Critical and analytical thinking, along with the ability to work both collaboratively and independently, are strongly emphasized at Red Owl Academy.
We are introducing French as a foreign language, using the QTALK method. This approach employs a series of icons arranged side by side, enabling students to interpret and produce full, complex sentences from the very first lesson. During each session, students engage in the complete process of recall and language production. QTALK is endorsed by the NYU Department of Neurology and is based on the principle of Active Cognition. This means that students actively participate in the learning experience, while the teacher takes on the role of facilitator.
